Have you ever wanted to feel what it is like to race at the famed Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca? March 2017 will be your chance with M&M Racing and the Northern California Karters hosting the ‘Corkscrew Spring Nationals’ at the historic 11-turn, 2.238-mile course in Monterey, California. The weekend of March 25-26, 2017 will be a special, first ever two-day event devoted to karting.
“This is something we have been trying to put together for years,” stated Northern California Karters Club President Mark Morrison. “Track rental is at a premium, both for dates and cost. Thankfully, our hard work has paid off and we have our first two-day race event for karts.”
The NCK organization has held one-day events at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in previous years. Thanks to the help of motorcycle road racers Wayne Rainey and Eddie Lawson, Superkarts have competed as a support group for major road racing events in the past.
Northern California Karters is spreading the word now in an effort to make this event the biggest road race of 2017. The Badger Kart Club Road America Super Nationals were among the largest events in the recent decade, welcoming nearly 1000 entries over the weekend. WKA’s annual Daytona KartWeek reaches high numbers every December, along with trips to VIR with Woodbridge Kart Club and Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course hosted by Dart Kart Club. NCK is hoping to make the ‘Corkscrew Spring Nationals’ an annual event depending on the success of the 2017 event. NCK is currently working on a race schedule and class structure, along with pricing for the event for the March 2017 weekend.
The Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca does enforce a 92db limit for karts during the weekend, and competitors will have to meet this throughout the weekend to participate.
Racers will be able to access the paddock Friday evening, March 24, 2017 with camping available both Friday and Saturday night. Garages will also be made available for rental. More information will become published as they become available on this website. Please check our dedicated event page.
